Army & Navy information For those of you who happen to own an Army & Navy CSL Gun and would like to learn the history of your gun we have recently learned that the company records do exist and you may now research your gun. The archives of the Army & Navy gun department are well preserved and are now stored in the Business Records Center of Glasgow University. They may be studied free of charge by personal callers (appointment advisable). For a fee of 20.00 Pounds Sterling plus VAT, the history of a particular gun can be traced.

“Brace yourselves”, price of pheasant shooting in England and Scotland may double next year"
This was the headline in the weekend edition of The Daily Telegraph today. The whole article can be reviewed on their web site, www.telegragh.co.uk. The whole problem stems from the use of the drug “Emtryl” which is used by Estates to prevent disease in their pheasant, partridge and grouse stocks. This drug is already banned in the EU but somehow its use has been over looked in the United Kingdom. This has all come to light now and there is a demand for the discontinuation of the drugs use immediately. Emtryl is doomed and along with it the livelihoods of every gamekeeper, gunsmith and maker, gun dog breeder, beater, loader, cartridge maker, cooks for shoot lunches and hoteliers, the list is endless, the whole shooting match will feel the effects straight away as who can pay close to £60 per bird to shoot.

Order your maps from the above web site
We were searching for maps to download of Africa for our Garmin GPS for the areas which we are going on Safari. Garmin advised us they have no maps available in the USA. Through friends in South Africa they referred us to Tracks 4 Africa. We checked their web, sent an e-mail and immediately Erin replied, was absolutely superb. We purchased our maps using a Master Card, downloaded them to our computer and then sent the maps to a Mini-SD in our Garmin Extera HX and everything went smooth as clock work. The prices are very reasonable and Erin is extremely helpful and pleasant to work with... You want to take your GPS with you to the bush in the event you need it or have an emergence which requires your exact location they have the maps to do the job. At the price of the maps it is a must have.

Shooting in Africa
When you arrive at Johannesburg International Airport, do not be caught up in the fear created by the press. Spend a few days there, visit Rowland Ward where each visitor is treated with great care and respect by Richard Flack. There are many great markets in the area. Scroll down and see the Nkanga Lodge, it is absolutely First Class, they will pick you up at the Airport and take you to their exquisite Lodge which is very close to the Airport and quite secure including a locked gun vault, Jane and her family are also Hunters. They will contact Vanitha owner of She Cab who will transport you anywhere you wish and if you do not know where you wish to go, just tell her what you like and you will get there and back in complete safety. Vanitha knows the area as I know Benton. Rest up for a day or two, then Victor or Jacko will pick you up in the morning for your trip to Kirabo, you will be zoned in after the trip, adjusted to the time difference and after a very reasonable and pleasant ride to Kirabo, you will unpack, have lunch and begin the experience of a lifetime. In fact we returned to Nkanga Lodge the day before flying our so that we are able to get all of our ducks in a row. It also allows you to say good bye to Jane, her family and perhaps one last visit to a Market with Vanitha to pick up that last ironwood carving. When they say you "arrive as a guest and leave as a friend" it is absolutely true.
